Calabash bowls are made from gourds which grow on the ground much like pumpkins. They are often funtionally used as containers for carrying and storing water, as well as used in the kitchen. Additionally the can be used as decorative pieces. In Ghana they serve many functions and are often considered a treasured possession within a household and family.
